Finally, an Engineering Assistant(Field Service) is proposed to assist in managing the approximately 500 generators and 14 powerhouses established to date(see A/66/685, paras. 94-96).

In addition, the Engineering Assistant will provide assistance to all missions through the Virtual Engineering Helpdesk and the Virtual Engineering Workspace and support in the development and updating of standardized design packages.
Abolishment of Electrical Assistant, Engineering Assistant and HVAC Technician positions budgeted as general temporary assistance in the Engineering Section.
The United Nations Volunteer Engineering Assistant shall provide technical skills required for the planning and execution of project works, as well as supervisory skills to direct the activities and skills enhancement of local staff.
Accordingly, it is proposed toabolish three Field Service posts of Electrical Assistant, Engineering Assistant and HVAC Technician provided in the 2011/12 period under general temporary assistance together with five United Nations Volunteers positions(2 Engineering Assistants, 1 Electrical Assistant, 1 HVAC Assistant and 1 Materials Management Assistant). .
The other General Service post, Engineering Assistant, would be responsible for the administrative support of the Centre, but would also assist in other activities, for example, the Engineering Assistant would prepare reports based on the library of standard designs for the clients of the Unit.
In addition, two United Nations Volunteer Engineering Assistant positions are proposed within the Engineering Section. The incumbents of the positions will assist with the coordination and supervision of the implementation of engineering-related projects and provide support to the incumbent of the Field Service Engineering Assistant position proposed above.
It is further proposed that an Engineering Assistant(national General Service) post from the Engineering Section, a Fuel Assistant(national General Service) post from the Supply Section and two Transport Assistant(national General Service) posts from the Transport Section be reassigned to the General Services Section as Facilities Management Assistants posts.
