ولهذا السبب يعلق اﻷمين العام أهمية كبرى على تنفيذ توصية مؤتمر اﻷمم المتحدة المعني بالبيئة والتنمية، الواردة في الفقرة ٣٨-٢٠ من جدول أعمال القرن ٢١، ومؤداها أن باﻻمكان تعزيز التنسيق والتكامل المتبادل لجهودبرامج ومؤسسات منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة الرامية إلى تعزيز ادماج البيئة والتنمية عن طريق تشجيع البلدان على المحافظة على اتخاذ مواقف متسقة في مختلف هيئات اﻻدارةFurther efforts are required to promote,in the light of country-specific conditions, the integration of environment and development policies, through appropriate legal and regulatory policies, instruments and enforcement mechanisms at the national, state, provincial and local levels.
