In our case, we select a fill color under the Fill tab. See screenshot.
In our case, we go to the Fill tab and select a background color in the Background Color section as below screenshot shown.
In our example, we check the green background color on the Fill tab.

Then click Format button to open the Format Cells dialogbox, in the popped out dialog, click Fill tab, and then choose one color you like.
Tip: If you need more color options, you can select Custom Format from the values with list, and in the FormatCells dialog, click Fill tab, and select color you want.
Note: You can also customize the fill color with selecting the Custom Format from the second drop down list,and then specify the custom fill color on the Fill tab of Format Cells dialog box.
Select a cell or multiple cells that you want to be filled with color gradient each cell, and then right click to choose Format Cells from the context menu,in the Format Cells dialog box, under the Fill tab, please click Fill Effects button, see screenshot.
In the New Formatting Rule dialog, select Use a formula to determine which cells to format from the Select a Rule Type list, and type =$C2=1 into the Format values where this formula is true box,and click Format to enable Format Cells dialog, and under Fill tab, choose one color to fill cells.
