What happens during the initial replication.
Initial replication does not begin immediately.
Select the Tools Initial Replication menu item.
The following concepts will help you better understand the initial replication process.
Initial replication always occurs between the primary member and the receiving replication partners of the primary member.
It is therefore recommended to execute the program for the initial replication in the background.
Note: Upon an initial replication any existing records in the table are overwritten in the target company for technical reasons.
Maximum duration of service usage per VM(not per account), beginning with the initial replication of a VM.
To properly size the staging folder for initial replication, you must take into account the size of the files to be replicated.
After a member has received all files from the primary member andcompleted building its database, initial replication is complete.
Any member that has completed initial replication is considered authoritative over members that have not completed initial replication.
After a disabled member is enabled, the member must complete an initial replication of the replicated folder.
During the initial replication much quota space is required in the normal case, since all data must be transferred unless it were data Pre-Staged or cross-file RDC is possible.
To avoid conflicts, do not make changes tofiles in the replicated folder on non-primary members until initial replication completes.
In protection jobs(Windows only),can serve as an intermediary stage in situations where the initial replication of the source workload by transferring the entire volume data is difficult, impractical, or impossible.
That member is then treated like any other member andits files are no longer considered authoritative over other members that have completed initial replication.
This means that during initial replication, the primary member's files will always win the conflict resolution that occurs when the receiving members have files that are older or newer than the associated files on the primary member.
For example, records which have been changed in the target company after the first replication areoverwritten with the records of the source company when the initial replication is executed again.
When receiving files from the primary member during initial replication, if a receiving member contains files that are not present on the primary member, those files are moved to their respective DfsrPrivate\PreExisting folder.
Choose the member that has the most up-to-date files that you want to replicate to all other members ofthe replication group, because the primary member's content is considered"authoritative" during initial replication.
Note: In case of errors, initial replications are treated as follows: Records which are to be replicated and cannot be read due to an error are saved in separate incoming messages with the Incorrect message status.
For the initial replication of existing data on the primary member, it is important that you size the staging folder quota large enough so that if multiple large files are blocked in staging due to partners not being able to download the files, the remaining files can continue replicating.
Initial replication will cause about 1 KB of data to be transferred for each file or folder in the replicated folder, and any updated or new files present on the member will be moved to the DfsrPrivate\PreExisting folder on the member, and it will be replaced with authoritative files from another member.
