That is what I wanted to say in reply to Mr Cramer, whom I thank once again.
From this point of view,may I congratulate our honourable colleague, Mr Cramer, on his report.
All of this, Mr Cramer, certainly does require a bold and ambitious strategy for the introduction of ERTMS.
First of all, I should like to thank the rapporteur Mr Cramer for the positive outcome we have ended up with.
Mr Cramer said this quite clearly, and I agree with him, because this is an important message for all of us.
I consider for my part that the work carried out by Mr Cramer and his committee is enlightening for the Commission.
Mr Cramer spoke of a‘patchwork', which very aptly illustrates the wide disparities between these systems in terms of safety and performance levels.
Mr Cramer, you already know that I have not always been enthused by your report in all respects- we do not need to discuss this fact today.
This desire is reflected in toned-down form in the European Commission proposals andin the supplementary proposals by the rapporteur, Mr Cramer.
In your report, Mr Cramer, you mention fairer competition between modes of transport, particularly through internalisation of the external costs of road transport.
I would also like to thank the rapporteurs in the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, and the Committee on Transport, Ms Koch-Mehrin,Mr Buşoi and Mr Cramer.
(LV) Mr President, Mr Barrot,first of all I would like to thank Mr Cramer for his report, even though it has, certainly, been assessed in highly contradictory ways.
PL Madam President, I would like to point out that I cannot be held responsible for the first part of the vote on the Barsi-Pataky report as, at the time,the name of the previous rapporteur, Mr Cramer, was still on the board.
In writing.-(PL) I agree with the views expressed by Mr Cramer, namely that efforts should be made to improve the efficiency, integration and sustainability of freight transport in Europe.
The major freight corridors will only be competitive if locomotives are not brought to a halt at national borders by technical barriers, and to that end the Communitystrategy must be clearly enunciated, as Mr Cramer has shown in his report.

FR Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, I am delighted that the European Parliament has taken up the report by the Commission on the implementation of the first railway package of 3 May 2006,and I should like especially to thank Mr Cramer, the author of the report, for his very serious and solid work.
Finally, I should like to thank Mr Cramer for his work and the sound cooperation with the shadow rapporteurs, and express the hope that all those involved will back the processes that have either been set in motion or that are yet to be embarked on.
We would also like to thank Mr Cramer for the emphasis placed on the logistics factor in priority cross-border rail freight corridors, among which I must mention the line that includes the central Pyrenees crossing that will be a future link between the Spanish logistical platforms such as Plaza and those in the South of France.
