I have the honour to transmit to you the Dushanbe Declaration adopted at the close of the International Conference on Water-Related Disaster Reduction held in Dushanbe on 27 and 28 June 2008 see annex.
We have the honour to forward to you the texts of the Joint Communiqué and the Dushanbe Declaration, signed by the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan during the summit of the States members of the Organization of Central Asian Cooperation, held in Dushanbe on 5 and 6 October 2002 see annexes I and II.
The participants also appealed to the United Nations to consider the possibility of implementing the Dushanbe Declaration of Central Asian Heads of State of 6 October 2002 on the creation of a mechanism to coordinate the activities of international organizations and donors, under United Nations auspices, for the solution of the problems of the Aral Sea Basin and to declare the Basin a high-priority pilot region for the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals.
