The Bureau recommended that the Commission consider adopting the following:(a) a decision on the provisional agenda for the forty-fourth session;(b) a decision on the themes for the forty-fifth session, in 2012, and the forty-sixth session, in 2013; and(c) a resolution on the special theme of the forty-third session, namely,"Health,morbidity, mortality and development.
In accordance with that decision, the Bureau, after discussing the issue, decided that three keynote speakers would be invited to address the Commissionon the special theme"Health, morbidity, mortality and development" and that each speaker would be allotted an hour in which to make a presentation and engage in an interactive dialogue with members of the Commission.
The Bureau therefore recommended that the theme for the Commission's forty-third session, in 2010, be"Health,morbidity, mortality and development.
The present report on the monitoring of population programmes, focusing on health,morbidity, mortality and development has been prepared in response to the topic-orientedand prioritized multi-year work programme of the Commission on Population and Development, which was endorsed by the Economic and Social Council in its decision 2009/239.
