They say that God helps those who help themselves, but the European Union actually goes further, because the European Union helps those who do not help themselves,particularly in relation to Haiti where the government- as Mr Deva and others have pointed out- is corrupt and does not seem to be concerned about its own people.
(FI) I voted in favour of Mr Deva's report on development prospects for peace-building and nation building in post-conflict situations because it raised in a comprehensive way the issues that are essential for successful reconstruction.
(PL) Mr President, Mr Németh is not right in his optimism over countriesgraduating from least developed country status, whereas Mr Deva, Mr Kaczmarek and Mr Arsenis are right in saying that in the last 10 years, only three countries- Botswana, Cape Verde and Maldives- have graduated from this group.
An amendment in my name and that of Mr Deva and Ms Belohorská calls on the Commission to ask all of the Union's partners around the world, both governments and NGOs, to undertake a permanent gender analysis of all abortions and to regularly report the findings to Parliament.
It is to propose setting up a simplified cooperation system that allows the Commission and Member States to supply the aid they have promised to partner countries in the throes of particularly grave crises more rapidly than they can today-and I will not dwell on these crises because Mr Deva has just explained them at length.
