The draft annex(or technical document) on control techniques for preventing and abating emissions of ammonia is presented in document EB. AIR/WG.5/1999/8/Rev.1.
The Framework Code of Good Agricultural Practice for Reducing NH3(EB. AIR/WG.5/2001/7)should be updated and consideration be given to future updates of the Guidance document on control techniques for preventing and abating emissions of NH3(EB. AIR/WG.5/2007/13);
Requested completion of the updating of the Guidance Document on Control Techniques for Prevention and Abating Emissions of Ammonia(including cattle farming) for submission to its thirty-eighth session;

Mr. Webb informed participants of progress in the revision of the Guidance Document on Control Techniques for Preventing and Abating Emissions of Ammonia(EB. AIR/1999/2, chapter V). The Expert Group agreed that the document could be considered finalized.
Item 7: Preparation of draft technical annexes on control options/techniques for preventing and abating emissions of reduced nitrogen.
He noted the entering into force of the Gothenburg Protocol in May 2005 andthe importance of updating the Guidance Document on Control Techniques for Preventing and Abating Emissions of Ammonia as well as the need for revision of annex IX of the Protocol Measures for the Control of Emissions of Ammonia from Agricultural Sources.
The underpinning for the mandatory measures and emission abatement targets are provided in the Guidance Document on control techniques for preventing and abating emissions of ammonia(EB. AIR/WG.5/2007/13).
In line with its mandate for revising the Gothenburg Protocol and its annexes(see items 3 and 5),the Working Group is invited to consider the updated draft guidance document on control techniques for preventing and abating emissions of ammonia(presented in an informal document), as well as to discuss and agree on proposals for revising annex IX on measures for the control of emissions of ammonia from agricultural sources prepared by the Task Force on Reactive Nitrogen.

The Expert Group agreed that the conclusions from the Conference should be considered in connection with the Guidance Document on Control Techniques for Preventing and Abating Emissions of Ammonia, and should be taken up in any possible future updates of the document.
The Working Group was also informed that the Expert Group on Ammonia Abatement was preparing a final version of the updated Guidance Document on Control Techniques for Prevention and Abating Emissions of Ammonia for submission to the Working Group at its fortieth session.
