In this context, the chairpersons of the selected Pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas will inform the Working Party on recent developments and activities in their respective Corridors and Areas.
In view of the enlargement of the European Union,the Working Party may also wish to discuss how future developments in the corridors and areas could be monitored.
Noting that the new update of the Status Report on pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas will be issued next year, the Working Party asked the European Commission to present the updated report at the next session of the Working Party.
Representatives of countries concerned may further wish to inform the Working Party on recent developments in Pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas.
Moreover, the TEM Project Manager participated in the 9th meeting of the Corridors and Areas Co-ordinators Group held in Brussels on 7 March 2006.
The Working Party supported the UNECE and the EC efforts to find a suitable arrangement in order to ensure continued coordination of the work on all Pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas.

In accordance with the request of the Working Party at its sixteenth session(TRANS/WP.5/34, para. 9),a representative of the European Commission will report on new developments in respect of Pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas.
Representatives of countries concerned may inform the Working Party on recent developments in Pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas and discuss the different possibilities as to how improvements in the corridors and areas could be monitored in future.
In this context, the secretariat informed the Working Party about the outcome of arecent meeting between the EC and UNECE concerning the possible future role of the UNECE secretariat in monitoring developments in Pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas.
In order to ensure a continuation of the monitoring of new developments in the Pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas, the Working Party agreed that concrete steps from all parties concerned were necessary to ensure the continuous monitoring of the development of the Pan-European Corridors and Areas in the future.
Furthermore, at the invitation of the EC DG TREN, the Regional Adviser had an active participation in the 5th meeting of Corridors and Areas Coordination Group, in Brussels, Belgium, 4 June 2003.
Moreover, the TEM Project Manager participated in the 6th meeting of the Corridors and Areas Co-ordinators Group held in Brussels on 15 March 2004and attended the International conference"Bottlenecks of the future infrastructure connection between the Slovak Republic and Poland"(Corridor VI) held in Bielsko Biala, Poland on 22-23 January 2004.
At the invitation of the Director of the EC DG TREN,the Director of Transport Division and the Regional Adviser took part in the 4th Meeting of the Pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas Coordination Group Brussels, 19 April, 2002.
Representatives of the Russian Federation, Poland and Greece informed the Working Party on recent developments in Pan-European Transport Corridors and Areas on the territories of their respective countries and discussed the different possibilities as to how improvements in the corridors and areas could be monitored in future.
In view of the existence of UNECE infrastructure agreements, the TEM and TER Master Plans, and following the enlargement of the European Union,the Working Party may wish to discuss how future developments related to transport corridors and areas could be most effectively monitored for the benefit of all UNECE member countries.
