Information provided by the United Kingdom for inclusion in the report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of decolonization resolutions adopted since the declaration of the First and Second International Decades for the Eradication of Colonialism(A/64/70), inter alia stated that the policy of the United Kingdom towards the Overseas Territories rested on the basis that it was the people of each Territory who would determine whether they wished to stay linked to the United Kingdom.
At its sixty-third session, the General Assembly adopted resolution 63/108 A. In paragraph 13 of that resolution,the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly at its sixty-fourth session on the implementation of decolonization resolutions adopted since the declaration of the First and Second International Decades for the Eradication of Colonialism.
Earlier in 2009,information provided by the United Kingdom for inclusion in the report of the Secretary-General entitled"Implementation of decolonization resolutions adopted since the declaration of the First and Second International Decades for the Eradication of Colonialism"(A/64/70) concluded that"work on the redevelopment of Montserrat had by early 2009 taken priority over the constitutional review talks.
Also takes note of the report of the Secretary-General on the midterm review of the Second International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism, andreiterates its long-standing request that the Secretary-General report to the General Assembly at its next session on the implementation of decolonization resolutions adopted since the declaration of the First and Second International Decades;
In reference to the inclusion of information pertaining to the Falkland Islands in the report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of decolonization resolutions adopted since the declaration of the First and Second International Decades for the Eradication of Colonialism(A/64/70), the United Kingdom submitted to the Secretariat a paper which sets out the position of the United Kingdom and its Overseas Territories for inclusion in the Secretary-General's report.
In accordance with instructions from the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, I have the honour to refer to the letter dated 10 June 2009 from the Permanent Representative of Argentina addressed to you(A/64/90)regarding references to the Falkland Islands made in the United Kingdom's contribution to the report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of decolonization resolutions adopted since the declaration of the First and Second International Decades for the Eradication of Colonialism A/64/70.

Supporting the declarations of the First and Second International Indigenous Conferences on the Establishment of a Permanent Forum for Indigenous Peoples within the United Nations System held in Temuco, Chile, and Kuna Yala, Panama, respectively, and the declaration of the First Asian Indigenous Peoples' Workshop on a Permanent Forum for Indigenous Peoples in the United Nations held in Indore, India.
