The executive power for the region of Eastern Slavonia rests with the UNTAES Transitional Administrator, Mr. Jacques Klein.

At this juncture, I would like to commend the work done by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Mr. Jacques Klein, and the people working with him in the very daunting task of building a professional police force, thereby contributing to the establishment of the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Our great thanks go to UNTAES and Mr. Jacques Klein, until recently Transitional Administrator in Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Sirmium, whose vigorous work, leadership skill and successful cooperation with the Croatian Government have been instrumental in the peaceful reintegration of these areas into Croatia.
The members of the Council took note of the views expressed in the Council on 3 June 2004 by the Chairman of the National Transitional Government of Liberia, Gyude Bryant, andthe Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Jacques Klein, on the need to lift the diamond and timber sanctions as soon as possible to enable the National Transitional Government to use Liberia's own resources for its reconstruction and development to the benefit of the Liberian people.
On 29 March, in informal consultations, Special Representative Jacques Klein introduced the sixth progress report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Mission in Liberia(S/2005/177) and members of the Council discussed progress in the implementation of the key elements of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, in particular with regard to October elections and the need for further international assistance to reintegration of ex-combatants.
The Security Council agreed, on 17 January, to the appointment of Jacques Klein as the Transitional Administrator in Eastern Slavonia with overall responsibility and authority for the civilian and military components of the Mission. On 13 February, the Security Council agreed to my appointment of Major-General Jozef Schoups as the Force Commander.
On the occasion of the meeting of the Humanitarian Issues Working Group at Geneva on 16 December 1996, Mr. Jacques Klein, the United Nations Transitional Administrator, observed that“no one likes living in someone else's home, nor can we have real peace in Eastern Slavonia until a good number of Croatian Serbs from the Krajina and Western Slavonia are allowed to return to their original homes.[W]hat they have created in Eastern Slavonia is a Kosovo of Serbs.

Mr. Jacques Paul Klein, who has since been appointed Transitional Administrator, has made two visits to the region.
He will replace Jacques Paul Klein, who served as my Special Representative for Liberia from July 2003 to April 2005.
Mr. Walker will replace Mr. Jacques Paul Klein, who has recently been appointed Principal Deputy High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On 8 July, I informed the Council of my decision to appoint Jacques Paul Klein as my Special Representative for Liberia.
The Mission continues to be led by my Special Representative andCoordinator of United Nations Operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jacques Paul Klein.
