We have noted that the draft resolution contained in document A/C.1/53/L.48/Rev.1 goes far beyond the parameters of the joint ministerial declaration.

An intrinsic element of both the Joint Ministerial Declaration and the General Assembly resolution was the call upon the Conference on Disarmament to establish an appropriate subsidiary body to deal with nuclear disarmament and, to that end, pursue as a matter of priority its intensive consultations on appropriate methods and approaches with a view to reaching such a decision without delay.
Relevant outcomes includedthe Arab Declaration and the Arab address to the World Summit on Sustainable Development, the Joint African/Arab Ministerial Declaration on Sustainable Development and the Manama Declaration of Arab non-governmental organizations for the Summit.
RECOGNIZING that considerable efforts have already been undertaken by the transport, environment and health sectors, both at national and international levels, for achieving transport sustainable for environment and health,highlighted by the adoption of the Vienna Declaration and the Programme of Joint Action on Transport and Environment(POJA) in 1997 and the Ministerial Declaration and the London Charter on Transport, Environment and Health in 1999;
The Declaration adopted at the 2005 Conference on Facilitating the Entry into Force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, the launching of the third Joint Ministerial Statement of support for the CTBT, of 2006, and the Final Declaration of the fifth Conference on Facilitating the Entry into Force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty held in September 2007 are positive developments in this area.
