The military component will perform the following tasks.
The police component  of the early-effect capability will  include one formed police unit and 40 individual police officers, while its military component will consist of one infantry battalion, four reserve companies, up to 60 liaison officers and military  aviation capability.
The new military component will remain in Chad until 15 October 2010.
The main headquarters of the UNOMIL military component will remain at UNOMIL headquarters in Monrovia.
The military component will also continue to support the good offices of the Secretary-General.
The reduction in strength of the ONUMOZ military component will begin on 15 November 1994, as previously planned.
The military component will also provide security and logistics support to the election process.
As noted above,at the time of independence, the military component will consist of some 5,000 military  personnel, including 120 military  observers.
The military component will therefore give priority to monitoring the security institutions, as well as contributing to the continuation of the reform of the Sierra Leone Security sector.
To the extent possible, the military component will provide assistance and support as required to the civilian police.
The military component will consist of two complementary elements, namely, the United Nations force and a military  observer group.

The military component will also continue with its reconfiguration and drawdown and will  be deployed in 21 locations in five security hubs: Port-au-Prince, Gonaïves, Cap-Haïtien, Ouanaminthe and Léogâne.
The military component will continue to monitor observance by the parties of their ceasefire obligations and to implement themilitary  concept of operations introduced during the 2006/07 financial period.
To this end, the military component will continue to conduct inspections by road and on foot, conduct land and limited air patrols, and man static checkpoints and observation posts in key and sensitive areas.
The military component will continue to maintain its presence in all five Darfur states at 34 team sites and be reconfigured to maintain sufficient troop presence in identified high-risk areas and potential flashpoints within the area of operations.
By the end of 2003, the military component will reduce to 1,750, with the closure of the tactical headquarters for Sector West, and will  make a transition to a structure with two infantry battalions with responsibility for the western and eastern parts of the country respectively.
The military component will reduce its current military  area of responsibility by excluding the present Sector North and the Salamat prefecture; however, it will  undertake medical and in extremis evacuation throughout the entire Mission area of responsibility.
The military component will continue to operate liaison offices and deploy military  liaison officers in Eastern and Central Darfur states to perform liaison and coordination functions with the Government of the Sudan, local political authorities and sector/force headquarters.
The military component will maintain close liaison with UNMIS, especially monitoring and reporting on the security situation along the borders with Chad and the Central African Republic, and supporting the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration programme.
To meet these priorities, the military component will maintain a secure and stable enabling environment in Haiti through presence and deterrence, border management and support for rule-of-law and human rights, with particular emphasis on the protection of vulnerable groups.
