Consideration of the eighth report by the Commission 2. At its fifty-fifth session in 2003,the Commission adopted 11 draft guidelines presented by the Special Rapporteur in the second part of his seventh report relating to withdrawal and modification of reservations(A/CN.4/526/Adds.1 and 2), which had already been referred to the Drafting Committee during the Commission's fifty-fourth session but which, owing to lack of time, the Committee had been unable to consider during that session(A/CN.4/535, para. 6), together with the corresponding commentary.
Attention was drawn to the usefulness of the set of draft guidelines, which were designed to give States practical guidance, particularly in view of the absence orscarcity of indications concerning the procedure to be followed in the event of the withdrawal or modification of reservations in the Vienna Conventions and other conventions.
