The growing importance of liquefied natural gas(LNG) in the UNECE region has been confirmed byincreasing import levels and the on-going construction of new regasification facilities across the region with new terminals being planned.

It is estimated that at the present gas price at Henry Hub, and having considered the cost of liquefaction,transporta- tion and regasification, the American LNG may cost in Europe even less than 300 USD/1000 m3, which would make it a very competitive gas source.
