In that connection, I would like to draw attention to our new draft resolution which is being submitted for the first time for adoption by the First Committee this year,concerning preventing the risk of radiological terrorism.
First, the draft resolution under item 97,"General andcomplete disarmament" entitled"Preventing the risk of radiological terrorism", which appears in A/60/463 as draft resolution XIX, was adopted by the Committee by a recorded vote of 162 to none, with no abstentions.
Naturally, we hope that it will, as it was two years,be adopted without a vote, in order to flag the unanimous concerns of the international community with respect to the risk of radiological terrorism.
Mr. Rivasseau(France)(spoke in French): I have the honour tointroduce draft resolution A/C.1/60/L.39, entitled"Preventing the risk of radiological terrorism", on behalf of France and the other sponsors.
I also urge Member States to take steps specified in General Assembly resolution 60/78 on measures to prevent terrorists from acquiring weapons of mass destruction andresolution 60/73 on preventing the risk of radiological terrorism.

At the 14th meeting, on 18 October, the representative of France, on behalf of the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Greece, Italy,Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey, introduced a draft resolution entitled"Preventing the risk of radiological terrorism" A/C.1/60/L.39.

The EU welcomes the revised Code of conduct on the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources approved by IAEA in September 2003 andresolution 60/73, entitled"Preventing the risk of radiological terrorism", in the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly in October 2005.
Orphan sources expose society to the risk of radiological accidents and terrorism.
