The President warmly welcomed the Secretary-General,senior staff of his office, and members of the Committee.

The estimated requirements under this heading($76,200) relate to travel by the Under-Secretary-General and the staff of his office for attendance at meetings of intergovernmental organs, the Governing Council of UNDP, ACC, the World Bank, IMF and the regional commissions, with a view to coordinating action aimed at effective implementation of the decisions of the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council and other relevant United Nations bodies.
I also wish to express my appreciation to the UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander andthe civilian and military peacekeeping personnel, in addition to the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon and the staff of his office, all of whom continue to play a vital role in helping to promote stability along the Blue Line and in Lebanon.
The estimated requirements of $213,300,reflecting an increase of $4,200, relate to the cost of travel by the Executive Secretary and the staff of his office to undertake official missions for consultations with Governments and intergovernmental and non-governmental institutions and for coordination with other United Nations organizations($198,400) and to attend annual meetings of the Economic and Social Council and the Committee for Programme and Coordination $14,900.
The estimated provision of $31,000, reflecting a decrease of $78,100,relates to the official travel of the Executive Director and the staff of his Office to participate in United Nations meetings and for consultations with Member States and senior United Nations officials.
The estimated requirement of $83,500 relates to the travel of the Under-Secretary-General and the staff of his office to attend the meetings in Geneva of the Economic and Social Council, the Executive Board of UNDP and the Administrative Committee on Coordination and its subsidiary bodies($22,000) and to conduct representational missions, at the request of the Secretary-General, and participate in meetings of the regional commissions, in high-level meetings with officials of the Bretton Woods institutions and in donors' round-table conferences $61,500.
I wish to express my deep appreciation to Robert H. Serry, the Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process and my Personal Representative to the Palestinian Liberation Organization andthe Palestinian Authority, to the staff of his Office, as well as to the Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Karen Koning AbuZayd, and the staff of the Agency and all other United Nations agencies, funds and programmes, who continue to provide indispensable and remarkable service in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
The estimated requirements of $79,300 relate to travel by the Under-Secretary-General and the staff of his office to attend meetings of intergovernmental organs, the Executive Board of UNDP, the Administrative Committee on Coordination, the World Bank, IMF and the regional commissions, with a view to coordinating action aimed at effective implementation of the decisions of the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council and other relevant United Nations bodies.
For the successful discharge of his mandate, the Special Coordinator would require support staff and funds for the operational needs of his Office.
They will also cover the costs of travel of the Under-Secretary-General and other staff members of his office to attend meetings of the Joint United Nations Information Committee.
An amount of $32,100, at maintenance level,is requested for the travel of the Executive Director and the staff of his/her office to participate in the work of the General Assembly and the Economic and Social Council, and to address various institutions in different regions on the Centre's programmes, including follow-up to Habitat II.
Hague branch: an increase of $312,100 to reflect the actual requirements of travel of the Registrar, staff of his immediate office and other support staff in the Registry.
