Resolutions 689(1991) Question of termination or continuation of the Mission.
The findings contained in the preliminary report will be used by the project management team andkey stakeholders to undertake the necessary actions, in a timely manner, for the termination or continuation of the project.

By its resolution 689(1991),the Council decided to review the question of the termination or continuation of UNIKOM every six months.
On 9 October 1996, the Security Council reviewed the question of the termination or continuation of United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observation Mission(UNIKOM) as well as its modalities of operation in accordance with its resolution 689(1991) of 9 April 1991.
By its resolution 689(1991)of 9 April 1991, the Council decided to review the question of the termination or continuation of UNIKOM every six months.
The Security Council, having reviewed the question of termination or continuation, on 4 April 2002 concurred with the recommendation of the Secretary-General that UNIKOM be maintained, and decided to review the question once again by 6 October 2002 see S/2002/349.
Assessment of the amount of $19,363,567 representing the balance of the appropriation, at a monthly rate of $1,613,630,subject to a decision by the Security Council with regard to the termination or continuation of UNIKOM.

The Security Council, having subsequently reviewed the question of termination or continuation, most recently on 10 April 1995, concurred with the recommendation of the Secretary-General that UNIKOM be maintained; and decided to review the question once again by 7 October 1995.
The appropriation of the amount of $3,623,800 gross($3,188,200 net) for the period from 1 May to 30 June 1996,to be assessed on Member States subject to the review by the Security Council with regard to the question of termination or continuation of UNIKOM;
On 6 October members of the Council reviewed, in the light of the report of the Secretary-General of 24 September(S/1999/1006 and Corr.1),the question of the termination or continuation of UNIKOM and decided that the Mission should be maintained until the next review of the question, due by 6 April 2000.

Furthermore, the consequences of failure to take a decision within the prescribed time-limit(i.e., whether termination or continuation),  were likely to involve both cost andissues of professional liability if the termination or continuation were found to be contrary to the interests of the insolvency estate.

The General Assembly, in its resolution 51/234 of 13 June 1997, appropriated $51,487,500 gross for the maintenance of UNIKOM for the period from 1 July 1997 to 30 June 1998,subject to review by the Security Council with regard to the question of termination or continuation of the Mission.

The General Assembly, by its resolution 50/234 of 7 June 1996, appropriated $52,141,900 gross forthe maintenance of UNIKOM for the period from 1 July 1996 to 30 June 1997, subject to review by the Security Council with regard to the question of termination or continuation of the Mission.
In accordance with the provisions of Security Council resolution 689(1991) and in the light of your report of 24 September 1998(S/1998/889),the members of the Security Council have reviewed the question of termination or continuation of the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observation Mission(UNIKOM) and its modalities of operation.
Approves the amount of 60 million dollars gross(57,386,000 dollars net) for the maintenance of the Observation Mission from 1 July 1995 to 30 June 1996, two thirds of this amount, equivalent to 38,257,300 dollars, to be funded from voluntary contributions from the Government of Kuwait,subject to the review by the Security Council with regard to the question of termination or continuation of the Observation Mission;
