The decision of the Conference to appoint special coordinators was nevertheless taken at a late stage of this year's session.

Why can we not appoint Special Coordinators?
I think that we have first of all to agree on a programme of work, and then after that,we establish the various ad hoc committees or appoint special coordinators to deal with the various issues.
Furthermore, the Conference can appoint special coordinators for such topics as"New types of weapons of mass destruction and new systems of such weapons; radiological weapons","Comprehensive programme of disarmament" and"Transparency in armaments.
Unfortunately, the CD was unable to establish other Ad Hoc Committees, as well as appoint Special Coordinators on the review of the agenda, expansion of CD's membership, and CD's improved and effective functioning, in spite of extensive efforts made by the G-21.
To appoint the following special coordinators.
Obviously, one needs to recall that the decision of the Conference to appoint the Special Coordinators was taken on 26 June.
