Reports of the Secretary-General on follow-up to major conferences and summits made action-oriented recommendations in only a few cases, such as the reports on follow-up to the special session of the General Assembly on children(A/60/207), and implementation of the outcome of the World Summit for Social Development and of the twenty-fourth special session of the General Assembly A/60/80.
It may also wish to consider a body of practice developed over the years for the other functional commissions of the Economic and Social Council that serve as focal points for the follow-up to major conferences and summits such as the World Summit on Sustainable Development(Johannesburg, South Africa, 2002), the World Summit for Social Development(Copenhagen, 1995) and the Fourth World Conference on Women Beijing, 1995.
