At its twenty-first session, the Executive Body for the Convention took note of the updated medium-term work-plan for the further development of the effect-oriented activities(EB. AIR/WG.1/2003/4), as amended in the report on the twenty-second session of the Working Group on Effects(EB. AIR/WG.1/2003/2, paras. 44-46),and including the work-plan elements for the Joint Expert Group on Dynamic Modelling.
The Executive Body recalled its previous decision(ECE/EB. AIR/36, para.43) that, after finalization of the second sulphur protocol, highest priority should be given within all subsidiary bodies and all relevant work-plan elements to the development of a strategy for the second step to the NOx Protocol.
It further agreed the text of a work-plan element for POPs for 2004 to replace the text in the draft work-plan EB. AIR/2003/4, item 1.5.
The delegation of Hungary, speaking also on behalf of the delegations of the Czech Republic and Slovenia,suggested including within future activities a work-plan element devoted to the implementation of abatement techniques for VOC emissions in countries in transition.
Work to be undertaken: The Working Group on Water and Health will inform the Meeting of the Signatories and the Working Group on Water Management about the outcome of its meeting on 3-4 April 2000 so that the Parties can update the present programme element andpossibly include a work-plan element on compliance pending the decision by the Meeting of the Signatories to the Protocol on Water and Health and Working Group on Water Management.
The Working Group welcomed these initiatives and decided,on the basis of the discussion held, to structure the draft work-plan for technology elements as annexed to the present report.
