What has happened to our call for the universality and indivisibility of human rights?
Principles of respect for the universality and indivisibility of human rights and fundamental freedoms are therefore essential priorities, and much work remains to be done in this area.
It rightly reiterates that the EU's policy seeks to advance‘(…) democracy, the rule of law,the universality and indivisibility of human rights and fundamental freedoms,(…)'.
They stated their view of the interdependence and indivisibility of human rights and stressed the need for universality, objectivityand non-selectivity of human rights. .
Whereas Article 21 TEU states that the Union's action on the international scene, which includes therein development cooperation, must be guided by the principles of democracy, the rule of law,the universality and indivisibility of human rights and fundamental freedoms;
Whereas respect for, and the promotion andsafeguarding of, the universality and indivisibility of human rights are cornerstones of the EU's foreign and security policies;
Whereas the indivisibility of human rights, including civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, should be one of the main objectives of the European Union in its relations with Cuba;
One of the aims of the EU's external action is to advance democracy, the rule of law,the universality and indivisibility of human rights and fundamental freedoms, as set out in the Article 21 of the Treaty.
Whereas defending the universality and indivisibility of human rights, including civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, remains one of the European Union's main objectives.

Whereas the new Article 21 of the TEU, as introduced by Article 1(24) of the Treaty of Lisbon, recognises that the Union's actions shall be guided by‘democracy, the rule of law,the universality and indivisibility of human rights and fundamental freedoms, respect for human dignity, the principles of equality and solidarity and respect for the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law';
Whereas according to Article 21 TEU, the EU promotes anddefends the universality and indivisibility of human rights and fundamental freedoms and respect for human dignity as part of the guiding principles of its foreign policy;
This represents an essential starting point for dealing with climate change and environmental degradation,the universality and indivisibility of human rights, poverty reduction and development for all, the consequences of demographic change, migration and international organised crime.

Whereas the Union's action in its relations with third countries is guided by Article 21 of the Treaty on European Union,which reaffirms the universality and indivisibility of human rights and fundamental freedoms and enshrines the obligation to respect human dignity, the principles of equality and solidarity, and the principles of the UN Charter and international law in its action on the international scene;
Whereas the founding Treaties commit the Union to having its external actions guided by the principles of democracy, the rule of law,the universality and indivisibility of human rights and fundamental freedoms, respect for human dignity and the rights of minorities, the principles of equality and solidarity, and respect for the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law;
