I therefore voted in favour of the excellent report presented to us by Mrs Mathieu.
Mrs Mathieu is quite right to point out that Afghanistan's social indicators are dramatically low.
The‘single permit' resolution,presented by Mrs Mathieu, specifically targets migrant workers' rights.
This will even apply to workers who are subject to the principle of equal treatment andwho are covered by what Mrs Mathieu said.
I will begin with what Mrs Mathieu said in her first point about the issue of mixed migration flows.
I would also like to thank Mrs Ayala Sender for her report on the implementation of the European Development Fund and Mrs Mathieu for her comprehensive analysis of recurrent issues for agencies.

Madam President, first of all,I would like to thank the two rapporteurs, Mrs Mathieu and Mr Cercas, the two committees, as well as the Belgian Presidency, for the hard work that has been done on this proposal.
Contrary to what you said, Mrs Mathieu, such differences in status would result in permanent downward pressure on the living, working and employment conditions of all wage earners in the European Union.
Madam President, Commissioner, Mrs Mathieu, ladies and gentlemen, immigration in Europe is undoubtedly a highly important and hugely significant political, economic and social issue.
I agree with the rapporteur, Mrs Mathieu, and with the proposal for a directive, which is part of the European Union's efforts to develop a global migration policy and is a framework proposal for citizens of third countries.
I therefore believe, Commissioner, Mrs Mathieu, ladies and gentlemen, that we need to have a much broader debate on this issue, along with the other directives, that is open to European civil society, the NGOs, the churches and the unions.
