Permitted claims have undergone a rigorous scientific assessment and are now more precise about health benefits.
It is therefore necessary to adopt a Community list of such permitted claims after consulting the European Food Safety Authority.
Accordingly, a health claim reflecting this conclusion should beconsidered as complying with the requirements of Regulation(EC) No 1924/2006, and should be included in the Union list of permitted claims.
The health claim referred to paragraph 1 shall be included in the Union list of permitted claims as provided for in Article 14(1) of Regulation(EC) No 1924/2006.
Accordingly, two health claims reflecting this conclusion should beconsidered as complying with the requirements of Regulation(EC) No 1924/2006, and should be included in the Union list of permitted claims.
The health claims referred to in table 1 shall be included in the Union list of permitted claims as provided for in Article 14(1) of Regulation(EC) No. 1924/2006.
Under Article 10(1) of Regulation(EC) No 1924/2006, health claims made on foods are prohibited unless they are authorised by the Commission in accordance with that Regulation and included in a list of permitted claims.

Pursuant to EU Regulation No 1924/2006 on nutrition andhealth claims about foods, adopted in 2006, it is prohibited to make health claims about foods unless they are authorised by the Commission in accordance with the regulation and included in a list of permitted claims.

In a meeting of the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health,EU Member States supported the European Commission's draft Regulation to adopt a list of permitted health claims for use on food.
The Commission therefore aims to establish lists of permitted health claims as well as to update permitted nutrition claims.
