Чланови Одсјека обављају многе значајне функције и активности, не само у области образовања, знаности и културе, него и у домену јавног и политичког живота.Recent studies have focused on generating new biomaterials for applications in medicine by using electrophoretic deposition of bioceramic coatings on the surface of titanium bone implants and electrochemical synthesis of polymer nanocomposites with silver nanoparticles as the soft tissue implants and antimicrobial wound dressings.Such a wide range of interests of members of the Department provides great opportunities for students of all levels of studies for inclusion in the scientific research and development of master's theses and doctoral dissertations.
Један од најновијих праваца истраживања је усмерен на добијање нових биоматеријала електрохемијским поступцима, за примене у медицини и то електрофоретским таложењем биокерамичких превлака на површини титана као имплантата коштаног ткива и електрохемијском синтезом полимерних нанокомпозита са наночестицама сребра као имплантата меког ткива и антимикробних облога за ране.Овако широк спектар интересовања чланова Катедре пружа велике могућности студентима свих нивоа студија за укључивање у научно-истраживачки рад и израду мастер радова и докторских дисертација.Members of the Department teach courses in the following study programs: Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology.

После завршених мастер студија студентима је омогућен наставак образовања у оквиру докторских студија.Научно-истраживачки рад чланова Катедре за текстилно инжењерство се одвија углавном кроз основна и примењена истраживања, као и кроз трансфер технологије, са јасно израженим мултидисциплинарним карактеристикама и са крајњим циљем увођења нових технологија.Чланови факултет Одељења имају активне истраживачке програме и међународно познати по својим истраживањима и стручности у разним областима, укључујући листу испод.In other words, the eminent professors, members of the Department for Engineering Mechanics and the Theory of Structures, are at the same time the leading designers of numerous and important civil engineering structures.

U periodu od 2002-2005. godine članovi Katedre su učesnici na TEMPUS projektu Evropske unije pod naslovom" Unapređenje nastave fizike na tehničkim fakultetima", koji je realizovan u saradnji sa UCL iz Londona( Velika Britanija) i Tehničkim univerzitetom u Delftu( Holandija), kao i sa Katedrama ѕa tehničku fiziku Elektrotehničkog, Mašinskog i Građevinskog fakulteta Univerziteta u Beogradu.
