On the basis of the monetary gaps as at 25 April, the impact of this proposal for the 1996 budget would be ECU 11 million.

Use of the correcting factor was provided for by Council Regulation No 855/84 in order,by means of a transfer of monetary gaps(generally known as'switch-over'), to avoid the creation of positive MCAs which, if dismantled, would lead to price reductions in national currencies in certain Member States.
