CONVENTION ON A COMMON TRANSIT PROCEDURE.
EFTA countries': means all EFTA countries and any other country that has acceded to the Convention of 20 May 1987 on a common transit procedure(13).
CONVENTION ON A COMMON TRANSIT PROCEDURE.
Without prejudice to paragraph 3, Community goods which are consigned from one point in the customs territory of the Community to another through the territory of one ormore EFTA countries pursuant to the Convention on a common transit procedure, shall be placed under the internal Community transit procedure. .
Were placed, before the date of accession, under the common transit procedure or under another customs transit procedure, and- have not left that procedure before the date of accession.
Decision amending the Convention on a common transit procedure.
The 1987 Convention on a common transit procedure lays down specific measures as regards guarantees to be provided in respect of goods which involve a higher risk of fraud in the course of a transit operation.
For the purposes of that calculation,Community goods carried in accordance with the Convention on a common transit procedure shall be treated as non-Community goods.".
In the case of exports to third countries which are signatories to the Convention on a Common Transit Procedure, return copy 5 of the common transit document, duly stamped by such countries, a photocopy thereof certified as a true copy or a notification from the customs office of departure shall count as supporting documents;

For the purposes of the first indent,'common transit procedure' shall mean the measures for the transport of goods in transit between the Community and the countries of the European Free Trade Association(EFTA) and between the EFTA countries themselves, as provided for in the Convention of 20 May 1987 on a common transit procedure(1).
In Article 379(2), third subparagraph, the following sentence isadded:"Community goods carried or to be carried in accordance with the Convention on a common transit procedure shall be treated as non-Community goods.".
(11) For the protection of the financial interests of the other Contracting Parties to the Convention on a common transit procedure, approved by Council Decision 87/415/EEC(6), it should be ensured that an appropriate guarantee is furnished where a transit operation concerning Community goods involves their territory.
The Council adopted the EU position concerning a decision of the EU/European Free Trade Association(EFTA) joint committee to invite Croatia andTurkey to accede to the convention on a common transit procedure and to the convention on the simplification of formalities in trade of goods.
Where the Community transit procedure or the common transit procedure is preceded or followed by another customs procedure, a subset containing the number of copies required for the completion of formalities relating to the transit procedure and the preceding or following procedure may be presented.
Where Community goods are exported to an EFTA country or transit the territory of one or more EFTA countries andthe provisions of the Convention on a common transit procedure apply, they shall be placed under the external Community transit procedure under the following conditions.
Whereas it is appropriate to insert in Commission Regulation(EEC) No 2454/93(3), as last amended by Regulation(EC) No 1427/97(4), a definition of the term'EFTA countries', as used in the context of the Community transit rules; whereas account should therefore be taken of the fact that countries other than the original Community andEFTA States have acceded to the Convention of 20 May 1987 on a common transit procedure(5), hereinafter referred to as'the Convention';
The Council adopted a decision aimed at enabling the EC-EFTA joint committee on common transit to modify the Convention on a common transit procedure with a view to updating the list of goods which involve a higher risk of fraud in the course of a transit operation.
The Council adopted a decision on the position to be adopted, on behalf of the European Union,in the EU-EFTA joint committee concerning the adoption of a decision amending the Convention of 20 May 1987 on a common transit procedure with regard to the accession of Croatia(11170/12) and Turkey(11169/12) to the Convention.
The provisions of Title IX of Commission Regulation(EEC) No 1214/92(2) and Article 22(6)of Appendix I to the Convention on a common transit procedure concluded on 20 May 1987(3) between the Community and the EFTA countries shall apply when goods covered by this Regulation pass through the territory of an EFTA country in the course of their movement within the Community.
Whereas, for the purpose of simplifying administrative procedures, it would seem advisable to harmonize several of the forms used in the Community procedure and common transit procedure, and to combine in a single list the lists of certain sensitive goods contained in Annexes 52 and 56 to Regulation(EEC) No 2454/93;
By way of derogation from Articles 332, 333 and 334, where products orgoods covered by a T2M form go to a third country that is a contracting party to the Convention on a common transit procedure, for reconsignment in full or split consignments to the customs territory of the Community under"T2" procedure, the particulars of the said procedure shall be entered in the"Remarks" box of the T2M form.
