Follow-on work to ensure the correct application of the law is delayed.

Close attention should be paid to implementation and enforcement issues by the Commission in preparing, and by Parliament and Council when adopting,new legislation to ensure the early and correct application of the law.

Whereas, in view of the considerable experience of the Member States' authorities in the application of Council Regulation(EEC) No 1468/81 of 19 May 1981 on mutual assistance between the administrative authorities of the Member States and cooperation between the latter andthe Commission to ensure the correct application of the law on customs or agricultural matters(4), the said Regulation should be applied to this matter;
Whereas, in order to establish these rules, inspiration should be sought, as far as possible, from the Community provisions established by Council Regulation(EEC) No 1468/81 of 19 May 1981 on mutual assistance between the administrative authorities of the Member States and cooperation between the latter andthe Commission to ensure the correct application of the law on customs or agricultural matters(4), as amended by Regulation(EEC) No 945/87(5); whereas account should also be taken of the specificity of health rules.
