ميرزا غلام رضا أصفهاني(1867- 1923 ميلادي)هو أحد أساتذة الخط الإيراني و أحد أبرز الخطاطين بأسلوب نستعليق و نستعليق المقطع في عهد القاجاريين. و في فترة شبابه تم قبوله في محكمة محمد الشاه و من بعده في محكمة الشاه ناصر الدينThe school consisted of calligraphers, illustrators, transcribers and translators, who collaborated to produce illuminated manuscripts derived from non-Arabic sources. The characteristic Baghdad School artistic style, which features sprightly characters bearing highly expressive faces and hand gestures(rather than stereotypical people), reached its peak in the first half of the 13th-century, although some examples can be identified at earlier periods.[3] Illustrations in this style represent a skilful blend of Byzantine, Persian and Arab features.
تشتهر مدرسة بغدادللفنون بأعمالها المخطوطة. تألفت المدرسة من الخطاطين والرسامين والناسخين والمترجمين الذين تعاونوا لإنتاج مخطوطات مضيئة مشتقة Traditional hurufi art was bound by strict rules, which amongst other things, confined calligraphy to devotional works and prohibited the representation of humans in manuscripts.[7]Practising calligraphers trained with a master for many years in order to learn both the technique and the rules governing calligraphy. Contemporary hurufiyya artists broke free from these rules, allowing Arabic letters to be deconstructed, altered and included in abstract artworks.
كان الفن التقليدي الحروفي مقيداً بقواعد صارمة، حيث يحظر تصوير أو رسم البشر و ذات الأرواح فيها كذلك كانت معظمها ذاتارتباطات دينية أو تعبدية إسلامية.[1] الخطاطون يتدربون على إتقان و احتراف الخط العربي لسنوات عديدة من أجل اكتساب كل من التقنية والقواعد التي تحكم الخط. تحرر الفنانون الحروفيون المعاصرون من هذه القواعد، مما سمح بفك الحروف العربية وتغييرها وإدراجها في الأعمال الفنية التجريديةArabic calligraphy has been used to a much greater extent and in astonishingly varied and imaginative ways, which have taken the written word far beyond pen and paper into all art forms and materials, For these reasons, calligraphy may be counted as a uniquely original feature of Islamic art, The genius of Islamic calligraphy lies not only in the endless creativity and versatility,but also in the balance struck by calligraphers between transmitting a text and expressing its meaning through a formal aesthetic code.

Because German-speaking countries had not abandoned the Gothic hand in printing, Gothic also had a powerful effect on their styles.
وكان لتلميذة جونستون"آنا سيمونز" دور فعال في إثارة الاهتمام بفن الخط في ألمانيا، من خلال ترجمتها لكتاب "الكتابة والزخرفة ونقش الحروف" عام ١٩١٠.[1] أما مدرس نقش الحروف في مدرسة فيينا للفنون النمساوي رودولف لاريش فقد نشر ستةكتب لنقش الحروف أثرت بشكل على الخطاطين الناطقين بالألمانية. ونظرًا لأن البلدان الناطقة بالألمانية لم تتخل عن الخط القوطي في الطباعة، كان للقوطية تأثير قوي Which calligrapher do you seek?
