Commencing in the United Republic of Tanzania, the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention is supporting UNHCR to implement astandardized Health Information System to provide a common data set for programme planning, monitoring and evaluation.
It is envisaged to jointly disseminate the common data set, similar to the Bank for International Settlements/IMF/OECD/ World Bank data set on external debt, through a trade portal on the Internet.

The Statistics Division is planning to align the databases for purposes of consistency,taking into account ongoing cooperation with OECD and collaboration within the Common Data Set project, in which the Statistics Division is responsible for some 64 countries or areas.
Future activities will focus on bringing the Common Data Set to the attention of users, seeking feedback from national statistical authorities, and exploring the feasibility of using Statistical Data and Metadata Exchanges for its maintenance.
It is expected that the progress on the implementation of the 2008 SNA and supporting statistics will be monitored by the regional commissions, according to the milestone andminimum requirement data set measures and the common data set with metadata descriptions.
The website will not only host the Common Data Set, but also serve as an entry portal to Task Force member organizations ' merchandise trade databases and to existing methodological publications containing applicable concepts, definitions and classifications.
A common feature of these programmes is the consensus among the countries concerned that a need exists for an assessment of their current capacity and needs with respect to producing the supporting statistics for national accounts compilation; for a road map to enhance the scope and quality of basic economicstatistics and national accounts for improved policy- and decision-making; and for a minimum common data set of annual and high-frequency statistics with metadata descriptions for the purpose of monitoring progress on implementation.
UNCTAD considers LDCs a priority in its inter-agency activities where the secretariat is in charge of the preparation of the LDCsmerchandise trade data that are released in the Common Data Set, an initiative by WTO, UNCTAD, the United Nations Statistics Division, Eurostat and the Organization for European Cooperation and Development to reconcile time series on total merchandise trade statistics using international standards as a benchmark.
For the Task Force on Finance Statistics, IMF reported that the group was working on training materials for external debt statistics. Representing the Task Force on International Trade Statistics,the World Trade Organization reported that a common trade data set would be on the Web before the end of 2003.
(iii) Recognizing the important role of administrative records and national survey programmes and working to achieve, to the maximum extent possible,a set of common concepts, definitions, and standards and a minimum data set using the guiding framework of the Principles and Recommendations for Population and Housing Censuses as a major starting point for agreement among them;
(a) The identification of a set of common data requirements for key statistics(see paras. 23-25 below).
The resident coordinator system at the country level will set up a common data system to facilitate monitoring of progress in these areas.
The Meeting noted with satisfaction that a meeting on common utilization of a global high-resolution digital elevation model for the United Nations system was jointly organized by ITU and the Office for Outer Space Affairs on 11 March 2013 to review the use of digital elevation model data and experiences within the United Nations system, to identify data sources, data-sharing and access opportunities for such models andto discuss the prospects for a common shared data set.
IMF chairs the United Nations Common System Task Force. Both IMF and the World Bank are active members of the ACC Subcommittee on Statistical Activities; each has chaired one of the Subcommittee ' s working groups on subjects within their respective areas of competence.Both organizations are also members of the Common Data System Task Force set up by the United Nations to consider the statistical requirements resulting from the recent sequence of global conferences.
