Supports the efforts of the United Nations to develop a coherent set of basic social development indicators by thetime of the second session of the Preparatory Committee and for the further development of methodologies for social impact assessments, and encourages the establishment or strengthening of national monitoring and evaluation units;

Areas for further analysis include(a) the links between food security, trade and gender;(b) migration policies and temporary movement of services suppliers and the boundaries between these two policies;(c) the correlation between the gender gap,economic development and national competitiveness;(d) the further development of methodologies for assessing the gender impacts of trade policy; and(e) the impact of trade preferences and rules of origin on specific sectors where women ' s employment is particularly high.
