The report examines action taken to implement General Assembly resolutions that were adopted from 1990 to  1995.

Takes note with appreciation of the report of the Secretary-Generalconcerning concrete action being taken to implement General Assembly resolutions 53/7, 54/215 and 55/205,A/56/129. and welcomes, in particular, the attempt therein to  analyse and discuss the obstacles and constraints impeding the promotion of new and renewable sources of energy and options for action to  overcome them;

The goal of the Collaboration, developed through mutual consensus by participants, is to  facilitate international cooperation and to  strengthen global and regional coordination amongUnited Nations agencies and other international partners to implement General Assembly resolutions 58/289, 60/5 and 62/244 and the recommendations contained in the World Report On Road Traffic Injury Prevention, and thereby support country programmes.
In this context, the Council welcomes the efforts of the United NationsInter-Agency Task Force on El Niño to implement General Assembly resolutions 52/200 of 18 December 1997 and 53/185 of 15 December 1998 and notes that the Secretary-General will report to  the Council on the outcome and conclusions of the first Intergovernmental Meeting of Experts on El Niño held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in November 1998.“15.
Examples of such initiatives are the decision of the Council of the European Union(EU)to  establish a common action of the 15 States members to implement General Assembly resolutions 48/75 K and 49/75 D and the resolution  adopted on 23 June 1995 by the Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity(OAU) on the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons and the problems caused by the proliferation of anti-personnel land-mines in Africa.
