In 1978 the UNECE Working Party on Facilitation of International Trade Procedures approved Recommendation No.11 on"Documentary Aspects of the International Transport of Dangerous Goods", where it recommended harmonizing information requirements and simplifying documentary procedures affecting the transport of dangerous goods.
If used, the relevant recommendations of the UN/ECE Working Party on Facilitation of International Trade Procedures may be consulted, in particular Recommendation No.1(United Nations Lay-out Key for Trade Documents)(ECE/TRADE/137, edition 82.2),Recommendation No.11(Documentary Aspects of the International Transport of Dangerous Goods)(ECE/TRADE/204, edition 96.1) and Recommendation No.22(Layout Key for Standard Consignment Instructions) ECE/TRADE/168.
Work was also under way on the revision of Recommendations No. 8, Unique Identification Code Methodology, No. 11, Documentary aspects of the International transport of dangerous goods and No. 12, Measures to facilitate maritime transport documents procedures, as well as on a set of guidelines to Recommendation No. 1, United Nations Layout Key for trade documents.
Trade facilitation recommendation 11 was elaborated by the CTIED in consultation with the Transport Division and focuses on the documentary aspects of the international transport of dangerous goods and sets forth actions to harmonize information requirements and to simplify documentary procedures for the transport of dangerous goods in order to decrease complexity and increase accuracy and efficiency.
International trade andBusiness Processes Group 15 also completed work on the revision of UN/CEFACT Recommendation 11(Documentary Aspects of the Transport of Dangerous Goods) and achieved significant progress on the revisions of Recommendation 6(Aligned Invoice Layout Key for International Trade), to accommodate e-invoicing, and on Recommendation 12, facilitating maritime transport documents.
