Following two letters by the Secretary-General of the CCW Third Review Conference of 23 February 2007 and the Coordinator of the Steering Committee of 22 September 2008, respectively, inviting the States Parties to the Convention to consider supporting financially the Sponsorship Programme, donations that have been received thus far originate from the following countries: Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, France, India, Lithuania, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, and the European Commission.
At the same plenary meeting, the Coordinator of the Steering Committee of the Sponsorship Programme within the framework of the Convention, Ambassador Edvardas Borisovas of Lithuania, reported on the work of the Programme's Steering Committee to the Meeting of the High Contracting Parties for its consideration.
Supporting the attendance of delegates has enabled the Coordinator of the Steering Committee, CCW office holders, APII and Protocol V coordinators and the CCW Implementation Support Unit to develop contacts with officials in a range of States and to advocate for the universalization of the regime.

The Coordinator presides over the meetings of the Steering Committee.
In addition to the 12 members, the Coordinator will be an ex-officio member of the Steering Committee.
The coordinator, with the help and advice of the steering committee, will help develop a concerted approach to fund raising.
Last year the Steering Committee appointed Ambassador Edvardas Borisovas of Lithuania as Coordinator, who presides over the meetings of the Steering Committee.
