The Working Group recalled its preliminary exchange of views on possible topics for future work at its last session(see document A/CN.9/686, paras. 126-131) and continued its discussion on future work, hearing presentations on a series of proposals by the delegations of the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, INSOL International, the International Bar Association(IBA), the International Insolvency Institute(III) and the Union Internationale des Avocats(UIA) contained in documents A/CN.9/WG. V/WP.93 and Add.1-6 and other documents referred to therein.

In the course of its thirty-first session, the Working Party had an exchange of views on possible ways of assisting countries in transition on road safety issues and renewed its call to Governments to inform the Working Party of any relevant activities which have been or might be undertaken in the future in their countries both bilaterally and within multilateral cooperation.
Note: At its fiftieth session the Working Party SC.3 had an exchange of views on possible further amendment of AGN with provisions concerning the protection of the network of inland waterways of international importance from intentional external influence(ECE/TRANS/SC.3/2006/7 and Add.1) and invited Governments to transmit their comments and proposals in this regard so that they could be considered by the Working Party SC.3/WP.3 ECE/TRANS/SC.3/174, paras. 17-22.
The Working Party, at its twenty-fifth session, had an exchange of views on possible ways to proceed with the elaboration of UNECE recommendations on the above item and asked the secretariat, using the documentation received from Governments, the European Commission(EC) and international organizations, to prepare for its twenty-seventh session, a succinct draft resolution reflecting the exhaust emissions standards for diesel engines used in inland navigation TRANS/SC.3/WP.3/51, paras. 22-26.
To that end, Japan had been hosting informal meetings to encourage frank exchanges of views on possible further action on climate change, inviting government officials from both developed and developing countries.
