Monterrey and Doha sought to address the challenges of financing for development with a view to promoting an inclusiveand  equitable economic system.
Lastly, her delegation attached great importance to the establishment of a strengthened follow-up mechanism to the Monterrey and Doha Conferences.
Building on Monterrey and Doha: towards achieving the internationally agreed development goals, including the Millennium Development Goals.
At this critical moment,revisiting the global partnership for development established at the conferences on financing for development held in Monterrey and Doha is of special significance.
We believe that, through the Ad Hoc Working Group, we can further the Monterrey and Doha agenda by advancing and/or accelerating actions on the decisions taken.
The high-level dialogue should focus on substantive issues, in particular new challenges and emerging issues, while reaffirming the holistic approach of Monterrey and Doha.
It is in everyone's interests to maximize the impact of the diverse sources of finance we considered in Monterrey and Doha, in order to make progress towards our collective development goals.
Some speakers focused attention on the financing for development follow-up mechanism,pointing out that it should be further strengthened to enable effective monitoring of the implementation of the decisions made in Monterrey and Doha.
Monterrey and Doha underline the critical importance of mobilizing all sources of financing for development, both domestic and  international, including foreign direct investment and  private funding.
Algeria attaches particular importance to the High-level Dialogue on Financing for Development, given its undeniable contribution to consolidating and implementing the commitments made at the Monterrey and Doha Conferences.
Commitments made must be commitments kept, and  Monterrey and Doha will be meaningless if the understandings upon which they were based are revised or reinterpreted to the continued detriment of developing countries.
Some speakers focused attention on the financingfor development follow-up mechanism, pointing out that it should be further strengthened to effectively monitor the implementation of the decisions made in Monterrey and Doha.
The next meeting, which is to be held after the World Summit on Sustainable Development and earlier conferences in Monterrey and Doha, could be an opportunity to consider tradeand  financial implications of sustainable development.
Given the proliferationof processes in the area of financing for development, the priority should be to ensure coordination with a view to strengthening institutional mechanisms for following up on the Monterrey and Doha conferences.
In that regard, the intergovernmental follow-up mechanisms to the Monterrey and Doha Conferences should be strengthened and  the partnership between the United Nations and  financing for development stakeholders enhanced.
Mr. Churkin(Russian Federation)(spoke in Russian): The Russian Federation considers the General Assembly's High-level Dialogue on Financing for Development as the central intergovernmental mechanism for coordination of the follow-up to the international conferences in Monterrey and Doha.
Allow me to conclude by recalling that we have pledged at many global forums,including the Monterrey and Doha conferences, to strengthen the United Nations leadership in the field of global economic governance and  the promotion of development.
He stressed the need to accelerate progress in building a stronger global partnership for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals by 2015,including meeting the commitments made in Monterrey and Doha, particularly those related to aid, trade and  external debt.
Ms. Ekker(Norway) said that the consensus reached in Monterrey and Doha on who was responsible for what in financing for development was at the heart of the global partnership and  should be assessed continuously in light of developments in the world economy.
Registration will be open to all non-governmental organizations that are in consultative status with the Economic and  Social Council and to all non-governmental organizations and  business sector entities accredited to the Monterrey and Doha Conferences or to their follow-up processes;
There have also been renewed calls to strengthen the intergovernmental follow-up mechanisms to the Monterrey and Doha Conferences and  to maintain the partnership of the United Nations with the other major institutional stakeholders in this task.
Furthermore, at the Monterrey and Doha Conferences, the United Nations managed to demonstrate its comparative advantages: its capacity to convene, the legitimacy provided by its universal and  inclusive nature, and  its commitment to development as one of the great pillars of the Charter.
Pursuant to the resolution, the Council held its 2010 springmeeting on 18 and  19 March on the overall theme"Building on Monterrey and Doha: towards achieving the internationally agreed development goals, including the Millennium Development Goals.
