UNCITRAL Trust Fund to grant travel assistance to developing countries that are members of UNCITRAL I.
It would also appeal to Governments,the relevant United Nations organs, organizations and institutions and individuals, to make voluntary contributions to the Trust Fund for travel assistance to developing countries that are members of the Commission.
The Secretary-General is responsible for the use of the Trust Fund for granting travel assistance to developing countries that are members of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, and the fund will be administered, in accordance with its terms of reference, by the Legal Counsel, as the programme manager of the Trust Fund.
The Commission expressed its appreciation to Austria for contributing to the UNCITRAL Trust Fund and therefore enabling travel assistance to be granted to developing countries that are members of UNCITRAL.
Welcomes the completion of the setting up of the trust fund for the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law to grant travel assistance to developing countries that are members of the Commission, at their request and in consultation with the Secretary-General, pursuant to paragraph 5 of resolution 48/32 of 9 December 1993;

In their comments, some States emphasized that consideration should be given to establishing an effective mechanism for providing financial assistance to developing countries that are members of the Commission with respect to the travel costs required for them to attend meetings of the Commission and its working groups.
The Commission may wish to recall that, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 48/32 of 9 December 1993, the Secretary-General was requested to establish a Trust Fund to grant travel assistance to developing countries that are members of UNCITRAL.
During the consideration of the interim report at the forty-third session, the view was expressed that the trust fund to grant travel assistance to developing countries that are members of UNCITRAL should be distinguished from the other trust funds aiming to finance activities under the Programme of Assistance.
The Commission may wish to recall that, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 48/32 of 9 December 1993, the Secretary-General was requested to establish a Trust Fund to grant travel assistance to developing countries that are members of UNCITRAL.
The Assembly would also appeal to Governments,the relevant United Nations organs, organizations, institutions and individuals to make voluntary contributions to the trust fund for travel assistance to developing countries that are members of the Commission, and would decide to continue its consideration in the competent Main Committee during the fifty-second session of the General Assembly of granting travel assistance to the least-developed countries that are members of the Commission.
The Commission expressed its appreciation to France, Greece and Switzerland for their contribution to the UNCITRAL trust fund for symposiums and to Austria, Cambodia,Cyprus, Kenya, Mexico and Singapore for their contributions to the trust fund for travel assistance to developing countries that are members of the Commission and to other States.
The Assembly would also appeal to Governments,the relevant United Nations organs, organizations and institutions and individuals to make voluntary contributions to the trust fund for travel assistance to developing countries that are members of the Commission, and decide to continue its consideration in the competent Main Committee during the fiftieth session of the General Assembly of granting travel assistance, within disposable resources, to the least developed countries that are members of the Commission.
In view of"the relatively low incidence of expert representation from developing countries at sessions of the Commission and particularly of its working groups during recent years, owing in part to inadequate resources to finance thetravel of such experts", a Trust Fund was established for providing travel assistance to developing countries that are members of the Commission.
The Commission has heard reports of existing in-kind contributions and contributions to the UNCITRAL Trust Fund for Symposia andto grant travel assistance to developing countries that are members of UNCITRAL, but that these additional resources are insufficient to address the needs concerned A/CN.9/775, paras. 89-100.
In order to ensure participation of all Member States in the sessions of UNCITRAL and its Working Groups, the Commission may wish to reiterate its appeal to relevant bodies inthe United Nations system, organizations, institutions and individuals to make voluntary contributions to the Trust Fund established to provide travel assistance to developing countries that are members of the Commission.
It would also appeal to Governments, the relevant United Nations organs, organizations, institutions andindividuals to make voluntary contributions to the trust fund established to grant travel assistance to developing countries that are members of the Commission and thereby ensure full participation by all Member States in the seminars of the Commission and its working groups.
