Member States may provisonally suspend retransmissions of television broadcasts if the following conditions are fulfilled.

However, the provisions of that Directive on transmissions of broadcasting organisations are limited to satellite transmissions andtherefore do not apply to online services ancillary to broadcasts while the provisions concerning retransmissions of television and radio programmes from other Member States are limited to simultaneous, unaltered and unabridged retransmission by cable or microwave systems and do not extend to such retransmissions by means of other technologies.

However, the provisions of that Directive on transmissions of broadcasting organisations are limited to satellite transmissions andtherefore do not apply to online services ancillary to broadcast while the provisions concerning retransmissions of television and radio programmes from other Member States are limited to simultaneous, unaltered and unabridged retransmission by cable or microwave systems.
He said that the main two dossiers on which Bulgaria would work during its Presidency wee the Regulation laying down rules on the exercise of copyright andrelated rights applicable to certain online transmissions of broadcasting organisations and retransmissions of television and radio programmes and the proposal for a Directive on copyright in the Digital Single Market.

The purpose is to facilitate, among the parties, the transfrontier transmission and the retransmission of television programme services.
The Commission welcomes the positive vote for the Directive that will simplify cross-border distribution and retransmission of television and radio programmes.
The European Parliament gave its approval on 28 march for a Directive that will simplify cross-border distribution and retransmission of television and radio programmes.
The proposed directive complements the existing satellite and cable directive,which currently facilitates cross-border satellite broadcasting and cable retransmission of television and radio programmes from other European Union member states.
This Directive lays down rules that aim to enhance cross-border access to a greater number of television and radio programmes, by facilitating the clearance of rights for the provision of online services that are ancillary to the broadcast of certain types of television andradio programmes, and for the retransmission of television and radio programmes.
(6)Council Directive 93/83/EEC 17 facilitates cross-border satellite broadcasting and retransmission by cable of television and radio programmes from other Member States of the Union.
The first sentence of Article 2(2) of Directive 89/552 requires Member Statesto ensure freedom of reception and not to restrict retransmission on their territory of television broadcasts from other Member States for reasons which fall within the fields coordinated by the directive.
