Od svih evropskih propisa koji se odnose na očuvanje retkih i ugroženih biljaka i njihovih staništa, najveći značaj za očuvanje i zaštitu biljaka i njihovih staništa na području Srbije ima Council Directive 92/ 43/ EEC o zaštiti prirodnih staništa i divlje flore i faune. Na tri dodatka ove Direktive za područje Srbije navedeno je 37 vrsta i dva roda viših biljaka( Lycopodium i Sphagnum), što ukupno iznosi 66 vrsta.
