St. Casimir was born in 1458, son of Casimir IV, king of Poland.
Born in Nuremberg, Sigismund was the son of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV and of his fourth wife Elizabeth of Pomerania,the granddaughter of King Casimir III of Poland.

Instead, when late that year Jan II Zamoyskidecided to support King John II Casimir of Poland, Zamość was besieged by the Swedes(see: The Deluge(Polish history)), whose troops appeared at the gates of the stronghold on February 25, 1656.
On 28 October 1611, when under the Royal Charter granted by King Sigismund III Vasa, the Jesuit College became the first university in Poznań.[1] These edicts were later affirmed withcharters issued by King John II Casimir in 1650 and King John III Sobieski in 1678, the university in Poznań lasted until 1773[2].
Following a fire that swept through the city in 1447, King Casimir IV Jagiellon suspended the collection of taxes and allowed Lublin to organise three additional fairs each year, which are still held at present.
