With a view to further integrating environmental protection requirements, in accordance with Article 6 of the Treaty,and taking into account the experience acquired in the application of this Directive in the Member States, such a report will be accompanied by proposals for amendment of this Directive, if appropriate.
Lastly, I should like to point out that, although the amendment of this directive will have a significant environmental impact, it will generate major economic benefits, enabling EU manufacturers to overcome this time of crisis and, at the same time, to comply with the limits laid down by European law for environmental protection purposes.
With a view to further integrating environmental protection requirements, andtaking into account the experience acquired, the first report should, if appropriate, be accompanied by proposals for amendment of this Directive, in particular as regards the possibility of extending its scope to other areas/sectors and other types of plans and programmes.
With a view to maintaining a high level of protection of human health and the environment and taking into account the experience acquired in the application of this Directive in Member States including, in particular, the conditions as laid down in Annex VI under which measurement has been carried out,the aforementioned report will be accompanied by proposals for the amendment of this Directive if appropriate.
Lastly, Mr President, the basic problems justifying this amendment of the directive have been pointed out.
Mr President, it is correct that the Commission did not wish, by way of this amendment of the Directive, to address the issue of genetically modified organisms.
Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, I regard this amendment of the Directive on the marketing of compound feedingstuffs as a step in the right direction on a long road.
The Committee on the Environment is proposing the use of Article 100a as the legal basis, whereas the Commission's proposal isbased on Article 130s. It is being said that this amendment of the directive is not in fact a matter of environmental protection, but of harmonizing the rules in this sector.
