It is generally acknowledged that Readaptation Aid, having largely catalysed and nurtured high levels of social protection, may now act as a guarantee to their maintenance.
Indeed in 1993,steel employers in full recognition of this welcomed an increased allocation of Readaptation Aid from the ECSC budget, in the form of supplementary social measures.
The report contains an evaluation of the Readaptation Aid programme and also looks at the range of other activities carried out in relation to the programme, such as studies and committees.
Despite Member States'delay in signing the new bilateral agreements, 1 me Commission decided to apply the procedures laid down in these agreements:o the Decision of December 1989 on the grant of readaptation aid.
