The decrease in non-post requirements is the result of:(a) an increase of $170,000 in contractual services as the result of the proposed expansion of the use of contractual translation at Vienna from 27.5 per cent to 30 per cent;(b) a reduction of $257,700 in other non-post costs due partly to the improved planning of meetings, resulting in reduced reliance on temporary assistance for meetings resources, and partly to efficient management and planning in relation to the acquisition, replacement and maintenance of office automation equipment.
The overall level of resources, as indicated in table 8.3 below, reflects, inter alia, the delayed impact of one new post(P-2) established in the biennium 2006-2007 in the General Legal Division; the proposed new P-5 post of Special Assistant to the Under-Secretary-General,redeployments between subprogrammes for the establishment of the Office of the Under-Secretary-General; and decreases in non-post requirements, as described above.
That figure represented a decrease of 13,500 Swiss francs, resulting from increases arising from the delayed impact of posts approved in 2004-2005 and three new posts proposed for 2006-2007, offset by decreases in non-post requirements.
