Progress made in the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS.
In June 2006,the General Assembly convened a High-level Meeting on the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS.
While we have made progress following the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS, we are still far from achieving our goals.
Ukraine supports the initiative to hold a high-level meeting inJune next year to review progress in the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS.
Ms. Marzec-Boguslanska(Poland): It is a great honour for me to address this Assembly today,during this meeting devoted to the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS.
Namibia is fully committed to the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS.

Botswana welcomes the report of the Secretary General on progress in the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS(A/57/227 and Corr.1).

Ms. Xundu(South Africa): The South African delegation wishes to congratulate the Secretary-General on his comprehensive report(A/64/735)on progress made in the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS.
Such meetings allow us to assess on a regular basis the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment adopted by the Assembly in June 2001 and to pinpoint the measures needed to give a new impetus to our common action against the scourge of HIV/AIDS.

It will includeextensive data on HIV/AIDS to contribute to monitoring the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the Millennium Development Goals and to targeting programme efforts at the country level.
