To consider the revised draft updated technical guidelines set out in document UNEP/CHW/OEWG.9/INF/8;

Expressing appreciation to the lead country, Japan,for having prepared the revised draft updated technical guidelines before the Working Group at the current meeting(UNEP/CHW/OEWG.9/INF/8), he invited the Group to consider the action proposed in paragraph 21 of the relevant note by the Secretariat(UNEP/CHW/OEWG.9/6).
To invite Japan to further revise the draft updated technical guidelines for the environmentally sound management of wastes consisting of elemental mercury and wastes containing or contaminated with mercury, in consultation with the small intersessional working group, for consideration and possible adoption by the Conference of the Parties at its twelfth meeting.
He noted that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UnitedNations had yet to finalize the draft updated technical guidelines on the environmentally sound management of wastes consisting of, containing or contaminated with pesticides, which would be available in October 2014, but new and revised drafts of the other technical guidelines on persistent organic pollutants were before the Working Group for review.
