They will say:"Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people.
അവര്‍ പറയും: തീര്‍ച്ചയായും നാം മുമ്പ് നമ്മുടെ കുടുംബത്തിലായിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഭയഭക്തിയുള്ളവരായിരുന്നു.

And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire.
അതിനുമുമ്പ് ജിന്നുകളെ നാം അത്യുഷ്ണമുള്ള തീജ്ജ്വാലയില്‍നിന്ന് സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു.

They will say:"Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people.
അവര്‍ പറയും:" നിശ്ചയമായും നാം ഇതിന് മുമ്പ് നമ്മുടെ കുടുംബത്തിലായിരുന്നപ്പോള്‍ ആശങ്കാകുലരായിരുന്നു.

And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire.
അതിന്നു മുമ്പ് ജിന്നിനെ അത്യുഷ്ണമുള്ള അഗ്നിജ്വാലയില്‍ നിന്നു നാം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു.

Saying:"Aforetime, we were afraid with our families(from the punishment of Allah).
അവര്‍ പറയും:" നിശ്ചയമായും നാം ഇതിന് മുമ്പ് നമ്മുടെ കുടുംബത്തിലായിരുന്നപ്പോള്‍ ആശങ്കാകുലരായിരുന്നു.

Or did We bring them a Book aforetime to which they hold?
അതല്ല; നാം ഇവര്‍ക്ക് നേരത്തെ വല്ല വേദപുസ്തകവും കൊടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ടോ? അങ്ങനെ ഇവരത് മുറുകെപ്പിടിക്കുകയാണോ?

O Zachariah, We give thee good tidings of a boy, whose name is John. No namesake have We given him aforetime.'.
ഹേ, സകരിയ്യാ, തീര്‍ച്ചയായും നിനക്ക് നാം ഒരു ആണ്‍കുട്ടിയെപ്പറ്റി സന്തോഷവാര്‍ത്ത അറിയിക്കുന്നു. അവന്‍റെ പേര്‍ യഹ്‌യാ എന്നാകുന്നു. മുമ്പ് നാം ആരെയും അവന്‍റെ പേര് ഉള്ളവരാക്കിയിട്ടില്ല.

God says,“We did aforetime send messengers before you.
അല്ലാഹു പറയുന്നു:' നിനക്ക് മുമ്പ് നാം പല ദൂതന്മാരെയും അയച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

So be not thou in doubt concerning that which these(folk) worship. They worship only as their fathers worshipped aforetime. Lo! we shall pay them their whole due unabated.
അപ്പോള്‍ ഇക്കൂട്ടര്‍ ആരാധിച്ച് വരുന്നതിനെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് നീ യാതൊരു സംശയത്തിലും അകപ്പെടരുത്‌. മുമ്പ് ഇവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്‍മാര്‍ ആരാധിച്ചിരുന്ന അതേ രീതിയില്‍ ആരാധന നടത്തുക മാത്രമാണിവര്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നത്‌. തീര്‍ച്ചയായും അവര്‍ക്കുള്ള ഓഹരി കുറവൊന്നും വരുത്താതെ നാമവര്‍ക്ക് നിറവേറ്റികൊടുക്കുന്നതാണ്‌.

We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude-- for We knew him--.
മുമ്പ് ഇബ്രാഹീമിന് തന്‍റെതായ വിവേകം നാം നല്‍കുകയുണ്ടായി. അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പറ്റി നമുക്കറിയാമായിരുന്നു.

Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good;
അവര്‍ക്ക് അവരുടെ രക്ഷിതാവ് നല്‍കിയത് ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ട്‌. തീര്‍ച്ചയായും അവര്‍ അതിനു മുമ്പ് സദ്‌വൃത്തരായിരുന്നു.

They will say,‘Indeed, aforetime, we used to be apprehensive about our families.
അവര്‍ പറയും: തീര്‍ച്ചയായും നാം മുമ്പ് നമ്മുടെ കുടുംബത്തിലായിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഭയഭക്തിയുള്ളവരായിരുന്നു.

Yet when the truth came to them'from Ourselves, they said,'Why has he not been given the like' of that Moses was given?' But they, did they not disbelieve also in what Moses was given aforetime? They said,'A pair of sorceries mutually supporting each other.' They said,'We disbelieve both.'.
എന്നാല്‍ നമ്മുടെ പക്കല്‍ നിന്നുള്ള സത്യം( മുഹമ്മദ് നബി മുഖേന) അവര്‍ക്ക് വന്നെത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ പറയുകയാണ്‌; മൂസായ്ക്ക് നല്‍കപ്പെട്ടത് പോലെയുള്ള ദൃഷ്ടാന്തങ്ങള്‍ ഇവന്ന് നല്‍കപ്പെടാത്തത് എന്താണ് എന്ന്‌. എന്നാല്‍ മുമ്പ് മൂസായ്ക്ക് നല്‍കപ്പെട്ടതില്‍ അവര്‍ അവിശ്വസിക്കുകയുണ്ടായില്ലേ? അവര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു: പരസ്പരം പിന്തുണ നല്‍കിയ രണ്ടു ജാലവിദ്യകളാണിവ. ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഇതൊക്കെ അവിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവരാണ് എന്നും അവര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

We sent(aforetime), to the Thamud, their brother Salih, saying,"Serve Allah": But behold, they became two factions quarrelling with each other.
നിങ്ങള്‍ അല്ലാഹുവെ( മാത്രം) ആരാധിക്കുക എന്ന ദൌത്യവുമായി ഥമൂദ് സമുദായത്തിലേക്ക് അവരുടെ സഹോദരനായ സ്വാലിഹിനെയും നാം അയക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. അപ്പോഴതാ അവര്‍ അന്യോന്യം വഴക്കടിക്കുന്ന രണ്ട് കക്ഷികളായിത്തീരുന്നു.

And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing.
അവര്‍ക്കു മുമ്പെ നൂഹിന്റെ ജനതയെയും നാം നശിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഉറപ്പായും അവരും അധാര്‍മികരായിരുന്നു.

We certainly gave Moses the Book aforetime: but disputes arose therein. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord,(their differences) would have been settled between them: but they remained in suspicious disquieting doubt thereon.
മൂസാക്കും നാം വേദം നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു. അപ്പോള്‍ അതിന്റെ കാര്യത്തിലും ഭിന്നിപ്പുകളുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. നിന്റെ നാഥന്റെ കല്‍പന നേരത്തെ ഉണ്ടായിട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ അവര്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ തന്നെ തീര്‍പ്പ് കല്‍പിക്കപ്പെടുമായിരുന്നു. സംശയമില്ല; അവരിതേപ്പറ്റി സങ്കീര്‍ണമായ സംശയത്തിലാണ്.

Certainly we are promised this, and(so were) our fathers aforetime; this is naught but stories of those of old.
ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഈ വാഗ്ദാനം നല്‍കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. ഇതിനുമുമ്പ് ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കള്‍ക്കും ഇവ്വിധം വാഗ്ദാനം നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാലിത് പൂര്‍വികരുടെ കെട്ടുകഥകളല്ലാതൊന്നുമല്ല.”.

മൂസായ്ക്ക് നാം വേദഗ്രന്ഥം നല്‍കുകയുണ്ടായി. എന്നിട്ട് അതിന്‍റെ കാര്യത്തിലും അഭിപ്രായവ്യത്യാസമുണ്ടായി. ഒരു വചനം മുമ്പ് തന്നെ നിന്‍റെ രക്ഷിതാവിന്‍റെ പക്കല്‍ നിന്ന് ഉണ്ടായിട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നുവെങ്കില്‍ അവര്‍ക്കിടയില്‍( ഇപ്പോള്‍ തന്നെ) തീര്‍പ്പുകല്‍പിക്കപ്പെടുമായിരുന്നു. തീര്‍ച്ചയായും അവര്‍ ഇതിനെ( ഖുര്‍ആനിനെ) പറ്റി അവിശ്വാസജനകമായ സംശയത്തിലാകുന്നു.

(Such was) the practice(approved) of Allah among those who lived aforetime: no change wilt thou find in the practice(approved) of Allah.
മുമ്പ് കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയവരുടെ കാര്യത്തില്‍ അല്ലാഹു സ്വീകരിച്ച അതേ നടപടിക്രമം തന്നെ. അല്ലാഹുവിന്‍റെ നടപടിക്രമത്തിന് യാതൊരു മാറ്റവും നീ കണ്ടെത്തുകയില്ല.

The(deities) they used to invoke aforetime will leave them in the lurch, and they will perceive that they have no way of escape.
മുമ്പ് അവര്‍ വിളിച്ച് പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചിരുന്നതെല്ലാം അവരെ വിട്ട് മറഞ്ഞു പോകുകയും തങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് യാതൊരു രക്ഷാസങ്കേതവുമില്ല എന്ന് അവര്‍ക്ക് ബോധ്യം വരികയും ചെയ്യും.

Assuredly this we have been promised--we and our fathers-- aforetime: naught is this but the fables of the ancients.
ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഈ വാഗ്ദാനം നല്‍കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. ഇതിനുമുമ്പ് ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കള്‍ക്കും ഇവ്വിധം വാഗ്ദാനം നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാലിത് പൂര്‍വികരുടെ കെട്ടുകഥകളല്ലാതൊന്നുമല്ല.”.

(Remember) Noah, when he cried(to Us) aforetime: We listened to his(prayer) and delivered him and his family from great distress.
നൂഹിനെയും( ഓര്‍ക്കുക). മുമ്പ് അദ്ദേഹം വിളിച്ച് പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ച സന്ദര്‍ഭം. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് നാം ഉത്തരം നല്‍കി. അങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെയും, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ കുടുംബത്തെയും നാം മഹാ ദുഃഖത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് രക്ഷപ്പെടുത്തി.

(Such was) the practice(approved) of Allah among those who lived aforetime: no change wilt thou find in the practice(approved) of Allah.
നേരത്തെ കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയവരുടെ കാര്യത്തില്‍ അല്ലാഹു സ്വീകരിച്ച നടപടിക്രമം തന്നെയാണിത്. അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ നടപടിക്രമത്തിലൊരു മാറ്റവും നിനക്കു കണ്ടെത്താനാവില്ല.

There doth every soul experience that which it did aforetime, and they are returned unto Allah, their rightful Lord, and that which they used to invent hath failed them.
അവിടെവെച്ച് ഓരോ ആത്മാവും അത് മുന്‍കൂട്ടി ചെയ്തത് പരീക്ഷിച്ചറിയും. അവരുടെ യഥാര്‍ത്ഥ രക്ഷാധികാരിയായ അല്ലാഹുവിങ്കലേക്ക് അവര്‍ മടക്കപ്പെടുകയും, അവര്‍ പറഞ്ഞുണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്നതെല്ലാം അവരില്‍ നിന്ന് തെറ്റിപ്പോകുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതാണ്‌.

In like manner We have revealed unto thee the Scripture, and those unto whom We gave the Scripture aforetime will believe therein; and of these(also) there are some who believe therein. And none deny Our revelations save the disbelievers.
അവ്വിധം നിനക്കു നാം വേദപുസ്തകം ഇറക്കിത്തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. നാം നേരത്തെ വേദം നല്‍കിയവര്‍ ഇതില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവരാണ്. ഇക്കൂട്ടരിലും ഇതില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ചിലരുണ്ട്. സത്യനിഷേധികളല്ലാതെ നമ്മുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ തള്ളിപ്പറയുകയില്ല.

In like manner We have revealed unto thee the Scripture, and those unto whom We gave the Scripture aforetime will believe therein; and of these(also) there are some who believe therein. And none deny Our revelations save the disbelievers.
അതുപോലെ നിനക്കും നാം വേദഗ്രന്ഥം അവതരിപ്പിച്ച് തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. അപ്പോള്‍ നാം( മുമ്പ്‌) വേദഗ്രന്ഥം നല്‍കിയിട്ടുള്ളവര്‍ ഇതില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നതാണ്‌. ഈ കൂട്ടരിലും അതില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവരുണ്ട്‌. അവിശ്വാസികളല്ലാതെ നമ്മുടെ ദൃഷ്ടാന്തങ്ങളെ നിഷേധിക്കുകയില്ല.
