Draft lists of issues.
The CHAIRPERSON invited the Committee to consider the draft lists of issues prepared by the Working Group.

Mr. ANDO, speaking as Chairman/Rapporteur of the Working Group on Article 40, said that the Group, comprising also Mr. Bruni Celli, Mrs. Chanet and Mr. El-Shafei,had adopted draft lists of issues in connection with the reports of five countries, namely, Mauritius, Spain, Zambia, Peru and Guatemala.
It had also drawn up draft lists of issues for the fourth periodic reports of Morocco and Norway and the second periodic report of the Republic of Korea, which the Committee would be considering at its sixty-seventh session.
For State party reports, this includes research,the preparation of country analyses, draft lists of issues and draft concluding observations, and servicing the meetings of the respective Committee session.
It would also draw up six draft lists of issues, five of which would be for consideration of the following periodic reports: the sixth report of Poland, the fifth report of Belgium, the third report of Jordan, the fifth report of Hungary and the second report of Serbia.

The Secretariat normally prepared draft lists of issues, which were then submitted for preliminary changes to the country rapporteur, if there was one, or else were sent directly to the working group or task force.

Mr. KLEIN(Chairman/Rapporteur of the Working Group on Article 40) said that the Group, composed of Mrs. Medina Quiroga, Mr. Aguilar Urbina, Mr. Francis and himself had, during the course of the previous week,prepared draft lists of issues with regard to periodic reports by Ukraine, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka.
In its decision 19/III, the Committee requested the Secretariat to provide draft lists of issues and questions with regard to periodic reports which would be sent in advance of the meeting of the pre-session working group to those Committee members designated as country rapporteurs.
The Committee also decided that the Secretariat should prepare draft lists of issues and questions with regard to periodic reports, based on an analytical comparison of current reports of States parties with earlier reports, and the Committee's discussion thereon, and other relevant information, including concluding observations of other treaty bodies with respect to the States parties concerned.
Mrs. MORALES(Secretariat) invited Committee members who had amendments to propose on the draft lists of issues to give them to the Rapporteur concerned, who would transmit them to the Secretariat for incorporation into the drafts so that these could be adopted before the end of the meeting.
The Committee decided that the Secretariat should continue to provide to the pre-session working group draft lists of issues and questions with regard to periodic reports of States parties, based on a comparison of current reports with earlier reports and the Committee's consideration of those reports and other relevant information, including concluding observations of other treaty bodies.
