He invited the Working Group to consider and amend the draft long-term strategy, and to suggest future priorities for the effect-oriented activities and methods of work, taking into consideration recent decisions of the Executive Body.

The Chair explained that the sustainable financial mechanism mentioned in the draft long-term strategy meant a sustainable but voluntary approach, and invited the Conference of the Parties to request the Bureau to elaborate the details for such a mechanism to be presented at the seventh meeting.
The Seminar will produce conference-room papers to amend and add to the draft long-term programme, which will be adopted at the closing session and submitted for approval to the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents at its first meeting and to the Parties to the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes at their second meeting 22-24 March 2000.
