In providing financial support for the implementation of activities under the successor work programme, the following considerations could be taken into account.
Parties proposed that the successor work programme needs to foster the participation of all stakeholders in the implementation of Article 6 of the Convention and invite them to report on the implementation of activities.
It invited the afore-mentioned entities to submit to the secretariat, by the same date, their views on the possible elements of a successor work programme on Article 6 of the Convention.
In session X, participants discussed a variety of possible elements of a successor work programme on Article 6 and agreed on a comprehensive list of recommendations for consideration by the SBI as contained in chapter IV below.
It invited the aforementioned entities to submit to the secretariat, by the same date, their views on possible elements of a successor work programme on Article 6 of the Convention.
Parties and observer organizations proposed that the time frame of the successor work programme should be expanded to eight, ten or fifteen years, with an intermediate review being conducted after three or five years.
Participants agreed on a number of recommendations,which the SBI may wish to consider, for the review of the implementation of the amended New Delhi work programme and the development of a successor work programme on Article 6.
In session VIII,participants focused on the development of specific elements that could be included in a successor work programme by building on the discussions under session IV on the previous day.
The second day of the workshop concluded with session VIII in which participants split into two English-speaking groups andone French-speaking group for in-depth discussions on the possible elements of a successor work programme on Article 6.
Proposals for additional activities to be implemented by Parties andother stakeholders under the successor work programme are synthesized in line with the six thematic areas identified in Article 6 of the Convention.
The SBI may wish to consider the information contained in this report and identify further steps for the improvement and enhancement of CC:iNet with a view to their possible incorporation in a successor work programme on Article 6 of the Convention.
This report summarizes possible elements of a successor work programme on Article 6 of the Convention, drawing upon submissions from Parties and relevant IGOs and NGOs, although the richness of the proposals means that all of the details could not be captured in a single concise document.
